The department has been established as a rectorate affiliation to carry out courses when there were no undergraduate and post graduate programmes and the number of students and faculties were relatively less.

  Followingly, the programme met the needs of 14 departments’ English and incessional English. The decision, dated 1.6.2001, issued 170/6, to change the School of Foreign Languages into a Higher Education School was approved by the University Board and was implemented by the Council of Ministers in 29.4.2004, issued 25447.
